LESSON INFO

- Schedule Item Creator
- Schedule Item Editor
- Schedule Item Viewer
- Your facility has active Work Locations and active Schedule Item Types (these are required to create a Schedule Item).

Skills you’ll build
- You can create a Schedule Item from the Scheduling timeline.
- You can link a Schedule Item to an Order (Receiving Order, Shipping Order) when needed.
- You can make low-risk edits (timing, location, description) and understand the validations that can block saving.
- You can verify the Schedule Item is usable by downstream flows (for example, Shipping Orders → Schedule Order).
LESSON OUTLINE
What “Scheduling” manages
- Scheduling is where you create and maintain Schedule Items.
- A Schedule Item represents planned work at a Work Location for a required time window.
- Schedule Items can optionally reference operational documents:
- Receiving Orders
- Shipping Orders
Create a Schedule Item from the timeline
- Go to Scheduling.
- Use the header filters to confirm or select:
- Facility
- Work Area
- Work Location
- Status (Active, Started, Closed etc.)
- Click an empty timeslot on the timeline.
- The system pre-populates Facility, Work Location, Start Time, and End Time based on where you clicked.
- In New Schedule Item, complete the required fields:
- Facility
- Work Location
- Description
- Schedule Item Type
- Must be an active Schedule Item Type.
- (Optional) Set the required timing:
- Required Start Time defaults to “now” rounded up to the next quarter-hour.
- Required Minutes defaults to 15.
- Required End Time is calculated from Required Start Time + Required Minutes, and updates when either value changes.
- (Optional) Link to an operational document.
- Default is Do not Link to Order.
- If you select:
- Link to Receiving Order or Link to Shipping Order → Order ID becomes mandatory.
- Click Save & Close.
- If a mandatory field is missing, the system keeps your entries and prompts you to fill required fields.
Safe edits
Low-risk edits:
- Description
- Required Start Time, Required End Time, Required Minutes
- Work Location
- Schedule Item Type (only editable when the item is not part of a group)
Validations / prompts you can trigger
- Truck ID required when you set Arrival Time or Marshal Time.
- Dependent on Transportation Mode.
- If a Receiving Order or Shipping Order is provided, Actual Carrier is required.
- If you change Work Location, Schedule Item Type, or required timing values, the system checks time slot availability.
- If it finds overlapping Schedule Items at the same Work Location where Actual End Time is not set, you get a confirmation dialog listing the conflicting Schedule Item IDs.
Verification
- Confirm the new Schedule Item appears on the timeline at the expected Work Location and time window.
- Open the Schedule Item from the timeline or grid.
- Confirm the required fields are populated:
- Facility
- Work Location
- Description
- Schedule Item Type
- If you linked a document:
- Confirm the appropriate tab appears (Receiving Order, Shipping Order).
- Confirm the linked ID is shown as a hyperlink.
- If you need to schedule from an operational screen:
- From Edit Shipping Order, use Schedule Order.
- Confirm the Scheduling form opens and is pre-populated with Shipping Order details.
COMMON ISSUES
-
Likely cause
A mandatory field is missing: Facility, Work Location, Description, or Schedule Item Type.
Checks
Confirm all required fields have values.
Confirm selected Facility and Work Location are active.
Fix
Fill the missing required fields and save again. The form should preserve your inputs.
-
Likely cause
You are viewing the wrong date range.
Filters (Facility, Work Area, Work Location, Status) are hiding it.
Your scheduling grid is set to Show Business Hours.
Your Schedule Item Type has its foreground & background colors set to blend in with the Scheduling grid.
Checks
Confirm the date bar is set to the correct day/week/month and you are on the intended start date.
Confirm that your Show Business Hours toggle is set to Show Full Day.
Confirm the foreground & background colors for the Schedule Item Type in question.
Clear filters one at a time to see if the item appears.
Fix
Adjust the date range.
Remove or correct the filters.
Update the Schedule Item Type coloring (foreground & background).
Ensure that the business hours toggle is set to Show Full Day.
-
Likely cause
Another Schedule Item overlaps the same Work Location and time window, and the other item has no Actual End Time set.
Checks
Review the listed Schedule Item IDs.
Check whether you are scheduling overlapping work intentionally.
Fix
Choose a different Work Location or time window.
If the overlap is intentional, confirm the conflict when prompted.
