Chapter 3 — Activity Reports
LESSON INFO
Audience
- Warehouse operators reviewing items that fully moved through the facility.
- Operations managers analyzing throughput and mode conversion.
- Billing staff verifying completed “in and out” handling eligibility.
Prerequisites
- You can access the Themis-Trace web app.
- Your role can access Reports and view the target customer.
- You understand that this report is ship-date-driven and includes only items with finalized receives and finalized ships.
Skills you’ll build
- Run a throughput (movement) report for a period.
- Read the mode split sections (Truck→Truck, Truck→Rail, Rail→Truck).
- Trace a single item’s inbound and outbound documents from one row.
LESSON OUTLINE
Concept
- Truck Traffic is a movement report.
- Every row represents one item that both arrived and departed.
- The date range is based on ship date.
- The report is grouped into three sections based on receiving vs shipping mode:
- Truck→Truck
- The item was received by truck and shipped by truck.
- Truck→Rail
- The item was received by truck and shipped by rail.
- Rail→Truck
- The item was received by rail and shipped by truck.
- Truck→Truck
Run Truck Traffic
- Open Reports.
- Select Truck Traffic.
- In the parameter form:
- Set Start date and End date (ship-date window).
- Select the Customer.
- Select the Time Zone in which timestamps are displayed.
- This parameter is set to Central Standard Time (CT) by default.
- Set Facility and/or Product Type filters.
- Run the report to load the embedded report.
Review output
- Review each mode section that applies to your facility’s operation.
- For an item-level investigation, use the row to capture:
- receiving BOL
- receiving date
- shipping BOL
- shipping date
Export the output
- In the embedded report toolbar, select File.
- Select Export.
- Select Excel (or another format as needed).
- Save the exported file.
Safe edits
- If an expected item is missing, confirm the shipment is completed and a shipping BOL is present before assuming a data quality issue.
Verification
- Each row has both a receiving reference and a shipping reference.
- Mode sections align with the item’s recorded receiving vs shipping transport modes.
COMMON QUESTIONS
-
Likely cause
Shipment was not completed or is missing required identifiers (ship date/BOL).
Checks
Spot-check the shipping record for ship date and BOL.
Fix
Finalize/correct shipping data per process, then rerun.
-
Likely cause
Outbound transport mode was recorded as Truck.
Checks
Verify the shipping order transport mode.
Fix
Correct outbound transport mode, then rerun.
-
Likely cause
The report shows current values at time of shipment; processing workflows may have updated item attributes.
Checks
Confirm whether the the item has had its properties updated during its time on-hand.
Fix
Investigate item history/audit log if the change is unexpected.
